Family property law
The area of law that we refer to as 'family property law' is closely related to our main specialist area of the law of succession. Because of this we also undertake assignments concerning all of the civil law issues associated with family relationships, with the exception of issues relating to custody, access/visitation and maintenance support for children. We can provide advice and assistance in the drawing up of documents in relation to, inter alia, gifts, the division of marital property and marital or cohabitee property agreements.
A common type of assignment within this subject area is the division of marital property in the event of a divorce or the ending of a cohabitee relationship. In these matters we undertake cases either as counsel/representatives of parties or as estate property administrators appointed by the court.
